Today I continue to upgrade my blog with these issues: improve S.E.O by Premium YOAST, register my blog with Google, and add Google Adsense.

SEO using PREMIUM YOAST

After manually transfer all my blog from Wix over to WordPress, started to work on my SEO. I purchased the Premium version of the Yoast because it comes with more function and guidance.

Readability and Focus keyphrase

For every single post, my goal is to improve  “Readability Analysis” and “Focus Keyphrase“. The premium version gives me more tips and extra spot for “Keyphrase“.

REGISTER MY SITE WITH GOOGLE

When I searched Themoneytools.org on Google search bar, it kept showing that my site: “COMING SOON”. I contacted Bluehost and they gave me a link to register my code with Goggle. I don’t have the link any more but an error happened when I registered: MISSING TXT Record. The technician was able to help med by register my domain TXT record on his end. He said it would take 4-12 hours to work. But I did another search 30 minutes later and it worked

After tech submitted the TXT domain

GOOGLE ADSENSE

This is a more challenging issue that I am dealing with. After you register with google adsense, they will give you a code and ask to copy and paste this code in the HTML of your site, between the <head> and </head> tags. This is not an easy task for a person like me who know nothing about coding.

The theme that I currently use is Newspaper9. They event recommend that do not alter the theme code. If I absolutely have to, do it on a child theme. Therefore, I created a child theme using this youtube video

After I successfully created the child theme, I was still not sure if I should “Copy and paste this code in the HTML of your site, between the <head> and </head> tags” because I have to:

“Place the code on every page you want to show ads”

Wix to WordPress: google Adsense

But what is that mean? When searching “How to connect Google Adsense to WordPress” on Youtube, bunch of tutorials videos showed up but almost all use a plugin to do it. Some videos were difficult to follow.

Bu there is a spark: Google Adsense actually have an instruction page of how to add code in my WordPress site. This page event said:

We recommend not editing theme files directly. If the theme you edit is updated, your changes will be overwritten

This is a great advise because my previous site messed up when I tried to insert the code right on to the original theme without using the child theme. Google Adsense recommended to use the Insert Headers and Footers plugin. This youtube video showed me how to use it correctly:

Stay tune as I will update you guys with result on my journey to add Google Adsense to my page.
