Let me guess: you get FRUSTRATED because after spending hours creating your blog, NO ONE even bothers reading it. I feel your pain. Just so you know there are many ways to bring traffic to your blog such as creating rich and quality content, improve Search Engine Optimization (S.E.O), using long-tail keywords, marketing through social media. What if you have tried all that and NOTHING works? Today I will show you a very effective method I have been using to get traffic to my blog: FACEBOOK.

But first, let me show you the results

How to get Blog Traffic from FaceBook: Traffic screen shot Today

This was a screen shot today from my Dashboard and Google Analytic. From the left picture, the Browsing Sessions of a single user to my site had increased by 39%. An astonishing increase of 58% on Pageviews and an out of this world 118% increase in Average Session Duration. My bounce rate decreased by 8%, which was not bad at all. From the middle image, the number of the active user was 81 at the beginning of July and has increased to 282 by today, the end of July. All of this traffic mostly came from Facebook.

Step 1: Join FaceBook Groups

Let’s assume that you have created your site, written at least 10 blog posts, made a facebook account, the next step is to search for the facebook groups. In the facebook search bar, you can type in something such as “Blog Support Group”. The result will show something like this:

Result of blog support groups

You want to join groups that have a lot of members to maximize your exposure. The first group, “Blog support group,” has over 30k members, so it looks like an excellent group to join. After clicking “Join” on the right side, you might see a popup window asking you some fundamental question regarding the rules and such. You don’t have to join over 30 groups. The PROs of joining more groups are great exposure. However, I recommend you pick about 3 to 5 groups and stay active within those groups.

Once you join, make sure to read the description on the right-hand column to understand the rule. Most of the standard rules are: not promoting yourself, only posting within the thread, and be kind to others.

Read description of the group

Step 2: Participate in the Discussion

You will see a lot of questions or comments are posted within the Discussion Board. Sometimes people are asking for recommendation, how to resolve technical issues, or just need some encouragement…

People rising their concern on Discussion Board

Participate in these discussions, answer as many questions as you can. I dedicate about an hour on Sunday to help addressing these concerns and help member solving their issues. I recommend doing this because people will tend to visit your profile or even better your blog page if you gain their trust by helping them solve the issues.

Step 3: Participate in the Thread

Example of a thread

Look at the group Description to see how often the Admin posts the thread. The purpose of the thread is to organize the activities.

You can promote your blog, sell products, improve blog traffic, or increase different social media followers on these threads. Every thread has different rules, so please make sure you follow these rule if you don’t want to be banned or kicked out of the group.

Look at an example of a thread on the right side: This thread is used to promote Instagram Likes. What people do in this thread is:

  • Put their direct IG links on the Comment section
  • Click on people IG links and give it a LIKE
  • Type “Done” on each people comment after finishing that task.

I hope these tips increase traffic to your blog. If you like this blog, please let me know in the comment below.

  1. Thank you for the suggestions! I am in several groups, but still sometimes it is hard to get more than five people to stop by and read what I have to say! I will try harder and follow your suggestions.

    • Hello,
Yeah I have joined over 20 FB groups but found it diccifult to stay active in them all since we all have our daytime jobs. I work like 3 places and still trying to make this work lol. So now I am trying to reply to 5 groups, as much as I can.

  2. Blog posts groups are the way to go! I joined a lot as well but then narrowed it down to the ones that are structured and monitored better. There is still so much to learn in blogging!

  3. Participating in threads does bring traffic but it is not genuine traffic. I would concentrate on Seo and organic traffic more.

    • Yes you are absolutely right. FB is only 1 source. Whenever I write my post, I use Yoast SEO to help with SEO. What do you use to improve your SEO?

  4. Honestly, I think the only traffic I get to my blog is from these FB groups. LOL! But I really think I need to find more to join although you are right. They are very time-consuming.

    • Super time consuming lol…I am not doing this full time at all lol. At the moment I am focusing on getting more traffic to my blog.

  5. I have to agree that joining groups is one way to get traffic. It’s just like some kind of trading. Speculators/readers come in more often when there are many people who trade.

  6. Great article. This is a topic I know I need to learn more about and you really helped me understand some good ways. Thank you.

    • Thanks for the post! I’ve been a member of some blogging groups but have been observing. Just now starting to actively participate as I take my blog more serious!

      • Oh yeah, make sure you follow their rule closely though. Some groups do have a little more complicated rule to follow, or they might mute you lol..

  7. Hey,
I am already member of the mentioned facebook groups. I must say these groups are a great help to get traffic on our blogs. People in these groups really helpful and always reciprocate. I have made some new blogger friends as well from these groups. Every blogger should join these groups and participate in threads, specially beginners!
And I must say Q.Tran you have explained it really well. Good Job!
