Spending Report

Today will be the first day I include the “Spending Report” section in the blog. So far today I have spent $2.75 on lunch. I always pack my lunch. It is just a boring sandwich with some fruits such as a banana or an apple. I found my self hungry again around 4:30 pm when I leave work and go to the gym. I figure because I don’t eat enough during lunch. So lately, I have spent a couple of dollars during lunch to get some more foods: a small bowl of soup, salad, or a piece of chicken from the hospital cafeteria.

Last night was one of those nights where when it rains, it pours. Not so much about me but bless my fiance’s heart.

Flat tire and other problems

It all started around 9:45 pm. I got a called from a Med-Surge director who concerned about the protocol and a high medication dose.

For readers who are also hospital pharmacist, it was 11 gram of Calcium Gluconate in 1,000ml NS running at 50ml/hr. Dose and rate were justified to correct symptomatic hypocalcemia. Order like this was not often, so RN questioned it, which was good. I was in a little panic mode because I don’t see this order often either so I was scrambling trying to find the protocol and checking if the rate was clinically ok.

Flat Tire

Right at the same time, my fiance just pulled in the garage, and she got a flat tire. On the way home, a small concrete road object punctured her tire without allowing her a chance to avoid it. Luckily it happened right in our neighborhood. She parked in the garage safe and sound right before the tire was completely flat.

Shout out to AAA, they took only 15 mins to arrive and took good care of us. I tip them $10 for providing excellent service and for the fact that it was 11 at night.

Juggling between work issue and the flat tire, I thought we handle it well even though my fiance was stressed out due to her college’s final week and money for the new tire. We spent around $50 to get a new used-tire the next day before she got to work.

I kept telling her how lucky she was that it happened in our neighborhood and right after you park safely in the garage.
