Hello guys, what is your money tool? My money tool today is my internet bill. I am going to show you what I just recently discovered to help me cut the Spectrum internet bill by 50 percent. Here is a secret tool: T-Mobile. Read until the end to find out how I did it.

Let me show you proof that I did it

Why I am talking about Spectrum Internet.

I have been a customer of Spectrum since 2014, when I bought my first house. I only signed up for the Internet. I understand some people want TV plus a landline phone package, but I am not that guy. All I needed as a single guy was good internet. I started with 300 Mbps, and my bill was around $40. Over the next eight years, the bill slowly increases to $84 a month. On average, the internet bill is around $59.99 a month. I realize that I am paying too much.

The Secret sauce: T-Mobile Internet

At the end of 2022, I upgraded my phone to the 14 Pro at T-mobile. During the upgrade, the technician completely sold me on switching over to “The Most Reliable Network”:

  • $25 a month without any hidden fees such as installation fees or equipment fees.
  • Super easy installation: all I have to do is to download the app, plug in the modem, and I am set. Too easy, right?
  • 5G network. My mind automatically associates 5G with fast internet.
  • It’s only available in some selected areas, and LUCKILY my area has it.

That’s it. I am getting T-mobile internet to cut the bill by $60 a month. What a SWEET deal, so I thought.

Here is how I able to cut my Spectrum bill by 50%

I called Spectrum, telling them that I wanted to switch. All hell broke loose. I spent 20 min on the phone with them, and here was the deal they gave me:

  • They can’t go down as low as $25, but they can lower the bill by as much as $45, plus they gave me a phone number to apply for a government program called Affordable Connectivity Program so that I could even lower the bill to as much as $25/ month. All I “had to do” was call and apply. Once I am accepted, call T-Mobile back, and they can apply that credit toward my bill. I COMPLETELY FELL for it.
  • You can find out more about that program HERE

So I called. It didn’t work. I couldn’t get a hold of anybody, so I said, “Forget it.”

I called Spectrum back and cut tide with them. However, as the last ditch to save me as a customer, they will still honor the $45 deal plus increase the speed to 500 Mbps if I return to them within 30 days.

Is T-mobile Internet good?

Oh HELL NO.

Let me tell you about the problem I had with T-mobile internet:

  • So slow. It said 300 mbps but much slower
  • All devices such as my phone, computer, TV, PS4 had lag issues all the time
  • Can’t even stream PS4 Call of Duty with my brother
  • The signal light was always at 3 bars out of 5 even though I put the device near the window.
  • My TV is right next to it and it still lag sometimes
  • I even called the customer service to see if I did something wrong. I followed their recommendation and it still didn’t work.

Yes I am pissed at this point

After 14 days of trying, I returned to the T-mobile “Most reliable Network” internet and got back with Spectrum.

At the end

It feels like getting back with an ex after a break up but I got even better service from “her” this time. That’s it. Hope you enjoy my blog. Take care.
