Today I want to share with you my income report and why I spent so much money on food this past month. Let’s find out.

Income Report

This past year was a success when it comes to saving money and job security but not so much about investment. I will do an expense report for 2018 in a separate blog, so please stay tuned for that.

I am still struggling with selecting the right information to share with you guys without compromising my privacy. Blogging about personal finance is my passion, and I will do my best so that you can benefit from my posts. Starting from today, I will structure the timing of the Income Report section a little differently. It will be month by month basis.

Month of December so far until today 12/27/18

It’s important for me that I talk about my spending. It helps me understand why I spend so much money on a particular category and to figure out a better way to cut back.

Let’s look at Food Dinning

Food & Dinning: $1,638 for the month of Dec/2018

Buffalo Wings: $340

This was for my staffs’ Christmas Dinner. The hospital will reimburse $260 back so that was only $80 out of my pocket.

Starbucks: $242.95

16 gift cards each valued at $15 for my staffs

Vons: $635.36

Well, I bought extra groceries for Christmas dinner. My family spent a week with us. My future father in-law was over for a couple day to help us cooked 2 hams. I made a total of 6 transactions at Vons. This was a little ridiculous. I will focus more on Vons next month to reduce this category.

What I could have save

I could control my spending on a few purchases at Pho Saigon ($39.35), PizzaHut ($21.36 was for work Potluck that all the staffed chipped in for), Chateau Chang, and Mr. Kabob. These purchases could be avoided. I have been treating myself with foods at Pho Saigon at least once a week, but I need to cut it out.

Your turn

How was your spending this month going? I hope it was not as bad as mine. Tell me about your gift’s spending. It was Christmas and we all had to spend a little extra. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you from me and family.

Products I recommend this week

Apple Watch Series 3Iwatch 3: $229 on Amazon and BestBuy

This was one of the gifts I purchased for the family. They love it. It is not the newest series (Series 4) but it has all the basic function: monitoring heart rate, calories, text, call and much more.

  • GPS
  • Optical heart sensor
  • Digital Crown
  • S3 with dual-core processor
  • Accelerometer and gyroscope
  • Swimproof
  • Watch OS 5
