Everyone is looking forward for a great vacation. However, when you have to sit down with your partner to find the cheapest hotel deal, it becomes a hassle. Let’s go over some of the best tips I have collected over the years to get the good hotel deals.

TheMoneyTools.org: How to Find Cheap Hotel Deals

1) Book Early

This one is kind of obvious right I am the person who always plans thing so let’s say if I want to go to Cancun, I usually sit down and research about when is the best time to go, where is the best play to stay and eat, kind of activities we can do, what local has to offer. Trust me, it is less stress when you do it this way.

2) Sign-Up to become Member for Saving

Afraid to sign up for booking or hotel website because you might get spam? You can always Un-Subscribe from their email list plus sometimes you can also get member discount as well. Below are some of the website you can get points and earn rewards:

a. Expedia (earn members-only prices)

b. Hotel.com (earn members-only prices and points – after 9 stays your 10th is free)

c. Booking.com (earn members-only prices)

At Kayak.com, you can also sign up for their price alert program for particular place and time. You will get email notification when the price of that hotel drops.

3) Take advantage of “Free Cancellation”

It would be helpful if you look into hotels’ cancellation policies because most hotels allow you to book the room and won’t charge to cancel it. If you like the place, book it to hold the price and cancel it if you find a better deal because rooms do run out.

4)Steal other traveler’s unwanted rooms

When someone has already booked the room that you like but decided to cancel last minutes, you can get that room for a cheaper price by booking through RoomTravel or Cancelon

5) Collect points and get free upgrade

All big major hotels chain has their own rewards program but don’t forget booking site has their own program as well. Some example are:

a. Expedia+ Rewards: Earn points on flights, hotels, car rentals, vacation packages, and more. Earn even more with an Expedia+ credit card.

b. Hotels.com Rewards: Collect 10 nights across any hotels, get 1 night free.

c. Orbitz Rewards: Earn points on flights, hotels, car rentals, vacation packages, and more. Earn even more with an Orbitz Visa card.

As you can see some require you to sign up for their credit cards. But if you travel a lot, it will be worth it.

6) Hotels Coupons deal

Groupon usually my first place to look for travel deals because they sometimes have great packages. Or Livingsocial if your style is a little fancier.

7) Membership Discount

AAA offers great deals for their members when it comes to traveling. Did I mention about their REVIEW system? You will absolutely have a great time booking from 5 stars AAA hotel reviews. I can speak from my own experiences because we booked a 7 days all-inclusive hotel in Playa Del Carmen a couple months ago for $1,800 through AAA and it was fantastic.

8) Use credit card points to purchase hotel room

I rack up points through my CHASE SAPHIRE card. They give you more money when you use your points on traveling versus convert straight to cash.

9) Use sharing economy to save you money

I really love this concept and more people around the world start using it and even make money from it. Airbnb is one of the pages where you can stay in someone extra room for the weekend. You will be surprised to find a much better deal that you can afford.
