After waiting for almost a month, my Google Adsense application was finally approved. If you are having a problem getting approval, I want to share a few tips with you today.
First, read the “Eligibility requirements for AdSense“
Do your research. Google Adsense did a great job of outlining criteria and rules if you want to be approved. One thing I want to point out: Write your own content. Google will punish your site if you straight up copy materials from another pages, so please do not do that. When I first created my first blog site, I thought it was a good idea to repost different articles from other websites that are related to my subject of personal finance. My intention was pure: have a variety of contents to keep my page interesting. As you already know that didn’t go well with Google. Here are a few tips to get you ready written by Google Adsense.
Create Good Contents
Being a blogger requires a lot of writing. Moreover, good writing takes practices. Once you get comfortable with sitting down, and your only intention is to produce an excellent blog, here are what you need to focus on:
- Solve people problem : I am just an average Joe, working a 9 to 5 job. No one is going to be interested in reading about my life. So I don’t waste time to write about my day. What readers want to know is how to solve their problems.
- Be specific: Focus on a straightforward topic at a time. A few examples: How to pay off $3,000 of credit card debt? How to install apps on Android? How to look for a job using Indeed.com?
- Stay relevant: An excellent blog is a blog that makes a connection with the reader. No one wants to read about MySpace anymore. People are more interested in Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest so blogs about these will be more likely to show up on search result. A blog I wrote about about how washing dishes by hands teach me lessons about money didn’t do very well.It didn’t catch much attention; I think because almost everyone uses the dishwasher nowadays.

Improve S.E.O
Search Engine Optimization (S.E.O) is an important subject that gets many people’s attention. If you want your blog to show up on the first page, it’s imperative to optimize your SEO score. To improve SEO, a few things to keep in mind when writing a blog:
- A good title: short, condense and attention driven.
- Use Focus Keyword and Key Phrase: Be specific about what you are writing and make sure to put the relevant keyword in your blog. For example, this blog focus keyword is Google Adsense and relevant key phrase are approve, SEO, patient, …
- Make your blog easy to read and follow: use bullet points, separate your blogs using subheading, and photos to illustrate your point.
If you are using WordPress, I highly recommend Yoast SEO plugin. This plugin scans all my blog posts and analyzes the Readability and SEO. I highly recommend the Premium version. It cost $89 to purchase, but I think it worth the investment.

Get Traffic to Your Blog
Having a little bit of traffic to your blog helps with the approval process. These are social media flat forms I use to increase traffic:
- Facebook: I created TheMoneyTools page aside from my personal facebook account. The benefit of a page is that I can track number of views, reach, fans,… I can also advertise a post if I want to.
- Instagram: I use this to mainly repost contents that are relevant to my blog.
- Pinterest: believe it or not, Pinterest is an amazing platform to get traffic.
Be Patient
Last but not least, it takes time to be approved by Adsense. They said it usually takes two to three days, or event up to a week to pass the approval process. However, it’s all depends on a case by case. Excellent contents, decent traffic will get your blog to approve faster. Don’t even bother to apply to Adsense when you have no materials or traffic. Consistency is crucial, and it will pay off.
