Update: 5-11-2023

The Venetian is one of the best hotels to stay in Vegas for many reasons: stunning art decor, luxurious shopping, and a wide variety of mouth-watering restaurants. The best of all is the spacious suites. I have been living here in Southern CA and spent numerous time in Vegas but finding a good deal for a Vegas hotel isn’t always an easy task. OUR GOAL: to enjoy the luxury at a fraction of the cost. First, let’s look at the tips I use every time to find good hotel deals in Las Vegas. Then I will explain how I get a cheaper rate at a luxury hotel such as the Venetian.

Beginner Tips

1. Clear Your Cookies/Search History before you do a Search

After you complete a search for a rate on a travel website, don’t forget to clear your browsing data. Failure to do that sometimes means you will pay more for travel. Your search and spending history could influence the algorithm that lets the site give you a higher quote THE NEXT TIME you look for the same hotel rooms. To clear your search history, simply go to the “History” tab in your browser setting.

2. Sign up for a Player Rewards Card

MGM Rewards and Benefits

The card tracks how much money you spend and how often you play. It helps users accumulate points and allow you to get freebies and possibly discounts. MGM Rewards (formerly M life) by MGM Resorts is generally better at suite discounts than Caesars Entertainment’s Total Rewards. All Las Vegas M life Rewards resorts are currently participating in the relationship, which includes: Aria, Bellagio, Delano Las Vegas, Excalibur, Luxor, Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand, Mirage, New York-New York, NoMad Las Vegas, Park MGM, The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Autograph Collection, The Signature at MGM Grand, Vdara at Aria. To sign up, simply go to MGM Rewards.

3. Book directly with the hotel

Las Vegas hotels love it when we skip third-party websites such as Travelocity and book directly with them. But keep in mind that this route may or may not secure the lowest available price, but it does give you the best chance to get the room you booked or score a potential upgrade.

4. Stay Midweek

Friday and Saturday at any hotel are the worst time to book.   Most hotels offer a significant discount on rates starting on Sunday through Thursday. Another amazing thing is that the pool, restaurants, and spas will be less busy and sometimes offer deals on the weekdays.

Advanced Tips

1. Take over someone else’s reservation:

Yes, you heard that right. RoomerTravel is a site that allows you to purchase other travelers’ unwanted hotel room reservations at a cut-rate. The overall review from TrustPilot is 3.6/5. For instance, Donald Boyd said:

I even looked into the BAD review. To my surprise, RoomerTravel’s customer service response to every single bad review. Here is an example:

2. Looking for Special Mobile Rates  or Last minute deal

Sometimes mobile apps provide better rates for the same travel agency. Many of them are great at finding last-minute hotel bookings. Here are a few of the best apps I have on my phone

  • Hopper: This app is cool because they use the algorithm and AI programming to predict with 95% accuracy when flight and hotel rates will go up and down, allowing you to book the lowest rate. Hotels are color-coded, with Green representing the lowest price. You can select your preferred hotel and get an alert if the price changes or when the price goes DOWN. Hopper will ensure all your charges and fees are listed clearly before you decide. You will also get $30 off your first booking if you are new to the app.

  • Kayak: Kayak finds low hotel prices by scanning 2M+ properties and hundreds of third-party sites, allowing it to find various hotel prices and options, allowing users to save up to 35% on hotels. One of the best options that I definitely recommend is the “Price Alert” tracking feature. Select “Set Price Alert” at the top right of the hotel results list when searching hotels. On the mobile app, you can get to Price Alerts using the app’s navigation menu and follow the instructions there. Also, please don’t forget this perk from Kayak: users to earn between 1,000 – 10,000 points for staying at over 400,000 participating hotels. Diners can earn points for hotels booked directly on www.kayak.com/diningrewards.
  • Expedia: Under the “Tonight” Section, you can sort the list of hotels by popularity, price, deals, rating, and distance. The list had many rooms discounted for “tonight only.”

3. Check for hotel comps and Promo Codes

Promo codes are hard to come by. These are usually sent to guests who have stayed there before. Promo comps are perks sent to you either by Flyer or email, treating you to a few free nights at a hotel. You get these comps by having a player’s card or signing up for one and doing some gambling in a particular hotel or an affiliate hotel.

Staying at the same hotel to build a relationship and visiting a few times a year, even if you don’t gamble, still can get you a few FREE nights and even some food vouchers. Unless you gamble at least $1,000/time, you aren’t going to get a free room. The number one rule is never to play for comps because it is not worth it.

4. Will booking early help?

Whenever we go on vacation, we try to always look for deals at least two months prior. This strategy has proven to be effective with our trips to Cancun and Universal Studio Orlando. Regarding hotels in Vegas, booking in advance is still a great strategy. There are no “last minute reservation” discount prices. Like everything else, prices are based on demand.

The next thing to avoid is major holidays pushing rates to very high levels. A few examples are July 4th, May 5th, Labor Day, Spring Break, Valentine’s Day, Memorial Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Easter, and New Year’s. Also, watch out for conventions.  The timing could also play a factor. Some say that the best time of day to make a reservation is after 6 PM because this is when hotels offer better pricing after they wipe out all the no-show reservations that were unsecured by a credit card.

5. Play MyVegas SlotS game on your phone

The MyVegas app is a virtual slot machine that you play to win more money. Check this out: You don’t ever have to touch your own money to play. They give you virtual coins to gamble with. It isn’t a get-rich-quick scheme because it takes time to accumulate points. The longer you play, the more loyalty points you’ll earn to redeem for different rewards. You can earn real rewards such as free room, meal, dessert, and shows through the point redemption system.

6. Tricks you can do at the actual resort.

Ask for an upgrade. The $20 trick, which involves folding a twenty-dollar bill in your palm and passing it along to the person working the check-in desk, is no longer a thing because hotels are cracking down on it.

So how did we get the Venitian suite for $120/night.

We had never stayed at the Venetian before, so this time around, we decided that we wanted to experience it. All the travel websites such as Expedia, Kayak, Trivago, Hotel gave us a price range of around $150, plus the $51/night resort fee.  Finally, we stumbled upon SnapTravel.

SnapTravel is the best new way to get a hotel deal. Their agreements with different hotels allow them to get you prices that are unheard off. The founders and advisors all have impressive resumes. Hussein Fazal, the CEO, previously cofounded Adparlor. He was also a mentor and advisor at 500 StartUps and TechStars. We had to go through either SMS, Facebook Messenger, or WhatsApp to get the deals. SnapTravel only offers hotel booking service at the moment. The phone app is not available yet but hopefully, shortly in the future.

Free breakfast

Booking through SnapTravel gave us free breakfast for the two days we stayed. Breakfast included coffee or tea and three delicious mini pastries. There were two spots to pick up breakfast: the Grand Lux Cafe and the other place, but I forgot. All I had to do was give them the voucher that I received upon checking in.

Free Parking

Yes, you heard that right.  While most hotels charge a $20 dollars parking fee, the Venetian gave guests free parking.

Spacious suite

The Venetian Suit King bed

We loved it. The bed was super comfortable. There were two TVs in the rooms, along with a fully stocked mini-bar. The mini bar was equipped with a sensor and would automatically charge your account once you remove anything from it.

The bathroom is fully equipped with two sinks, a bathtub, a standup shower, a vanity, and a toilet behind a closed door.
